Beer Pong
Setup
A 12 pack of bottles per two person team
4 ping pong paddles
A regulation ping pong table w/ net
several ping pong balls
Rules to drink by
the game is played like a normal game of ping pong. Two people per team each w/ one sealed bottle of beer per game. Each player places their bottle at the center of their square, a paddle length away from the end of the table. To decide serve a quick best 2 out of three rally match is played. the team that breaks the rally twice gives serve to the other team. Now the game is on. As you serve you attempt to strike the bottle with the ball( bottle hits off of returns are legal). The first hit you open your team’s bottles. Now for the drinking part. The next hit your team scores, pick up the bottle and proceed to chug as the opposing team retrives the ball as fast as possible. once they have accomplished that they hit the table with the paddle signifying that it is time to stop chugging. Caution: 1 foam is bad it slows down the chugging process. 2 a loss of serve is the penalty for spillage (one drop qualifies as spillage). 3 Keep your lips on the bottle to prevent spillage, once you remove your lips they may not return to the bottle or a loss of serve is a result. THe chugging team maintains service (alternating servers) until their bottle is or service is lost during normal play. This process continues until the beer (including the foam)is completly finished. Once it is agreed that both you and your teammate are done with your beers you call out “points.” Your objective is to hit the bottle two more times before the other team finishes their beer and scores the two points. First to two points wins.
False Hit:
-(when retrieving the ball)hitting the table while not in control of the ball. Penalty: the other team gets to dring for a two mississippi count.
Spillage:
-standard spill any drop or dribble outside of the bottle or mouth. Penalty: Loss of serve
-Major spillage: using you own discression decide if the spill qualifies as major(usu. after a bottle has been knocked over) Penalty: loss of serve & opposing team gets a two-second drink
Beer Guarding: your paddle must remain behind the bottles unless you can prove that it wasn’t going to hit(difficult to do with drunk people) Penalty: the ball is returned to the serving team; if they have beer left a two second drink is enforced.
Didn’t Cross: the ball must cross the table diagonally when serving failur to do so will result in loss of serve
Legal Net: Off of the serve the ball hits the net but still crosses it. penalty: the server gets one more shot at it. If the net is hit again “double fault” is called and loss of serve is a result.
Illegal Net: Off of the serve the ball hits the net a stays on the servers side. Penalty: Loss of serve.
