Throwback Baseball
OFFICIAL RULES
Throwback Baseball is a mix between baseball and beer pong. It’s a very easy game that requires skill of pong and choosing the right players for your team. Read this once and you’ll know how to play, it’s that simple.
SETUP
—>Throwback Baseball (TBall) is to be played on a regular Beer Pong table with 12 cups, including a Water Cup.
—>One side of the table is where the “batting” team shoots the ball from. The other side is where the cups are set up and where the “defense” is.
—>The 12 cups are divided into 1 water cup, 2 bunt cups, 3 singles, 3 doubles, 3 triples. One Can Tab is required as the Home Run.
—>The table is set up like so: (http://img179.imageshack.us/img179/396/22yi9.gif) The 12 red circles are cups, the gray oval is a can tab, the 2 light gray cirles are the defensive circles, and the 4 white squares are baseball bases. The Home Run Tab is leaned halfway off the table.
—>The row of three cups farthest and most spread out are triples, next row is doubles, next is singles. The two cups set up in “weak eye” formation are bunts and the last cup is the water.
—>Each cup is filled with an agreed upon amount of beer (5 seconds, first line, etc.) We usually play 3 beers per rack, ditributed evenly.
—>The game is played with regular Ping Pong balls, 1-3 are to be used.
—>Teams are set up evenly, anywhere from 1-5 players per team.
—>If there is not enough room around the table for bases, 3 cups (or cans) can be used to keep track of baserunners. They are set up in triangle formation, right side up near the water cup, representing the bases. If a runner is on that base, the cup is flipped upside down. First, second and third base are only needed, not Home Plate.
—>The game can be played with innings (1, 3, 5, 7, 9…) or first to a certain amount of points (7, 15, 21…). Scoring works just like real MLB baseball and can be kept by writing, memory (not recomended) or by using things to represent runs (beer cans, tabs, etc.)
—>3 Strikes = 1 Out, 3 Outs = End of inning.

HOW TO PLAY
1. Decide the teams and who gets ball first (away team). The team with ball first has a disadvantage, so it is decided by a few things: Winner stays on the table and gets Home advantage, unless a team has the player that is hosting the party, then they are the “Home Team”. If it is the first game and the host is NOT playing, home team can be decided by shooting at the bunt cups, Do or Die style.
2. The away team starts with the ball. Washing the ball before shooting is always good to do. One player from that team stands facing the cups and the defense on the opposite side of the table. The defense is two players from the home team who stand on both corners of the other side. The player shoots the ball, now here are the different outcomes:
—>Sinks a shot: That cup is taken away, drank by the defense, and held for the rest of the inning. The player who sank the shot moves to that base (if they hit a double they move to second base and so on.) Cups are reset after every half-inning.
—>Sinks a Bunt: One out is recorded, but all runners advance one base.
—>Home Run: A Home Run is hit when a player hits the can tab off of the table with the ball. This is the only thing that is reset after hitting. When this is hit, the defense must drink all of the remaining beer, and re-fill.
—>Bounces off the table: This counts as a strike, 3 strikes and you’re out.
—>Hits a cup, doesn’t go in: This also counts as a strike.
—>Hits nothing (air ball): This is an automatic out.
—>Misses bunt attempt, hits the cup: This is counted as a strike.
—>Misses bunt attempt completly, doesn’t hit a cup: This is an automatic out.
3. The other team can do several different things while on defense:
—>Drink: When the team hits a cup, defense drinks that cup and hold it in their hand. The next cup hit is drank by the other defensive player. When a third cup is hit, the original cup is placed face down on the table somewhere out of play. NEVER STACK CUPS.
—>Double Play: When a cup is sunk and the defense is holding an empty cup, they can force a double play. When the next ball hit off of a cup or the table the defense can catch the ball in their cup that they hold. This counts as two outs and the runner who’s farthest along is out also. But when trying for a double play, watch for errors…
—>Error: When an error is made, runners advance one base and the batter is still up. An error is when a defensive player tries for a double play and: hits the ball but doesn’t make it in cup, gets it in the cup with beer still in it, or knocks a cup over.
—>Clutch Play: Also known as “fingering”, this is when the ball is swirling around the cup and the defense “fingers” it out. This counts as an out and the fingered ball is up for a double play now. But, if the ball is fingered into another cup, the higher of the two is taken and drank.
—>Rim Out: When the ball hits off of one cup into another, the higher of the two cups count only.
4. Game continues until score is reached or innings are done. The winning team satys on to play another game of THROWBACK BASEBALL.
