Setup

-5 players or more suggested
-A shot glass for everyone who will be playing
-Your drink of choice (I play with vodka, but if you can’t hold your liquor, use beer or Smirnoff or something.)
-A moderator (Doesn’t drink, keeps track of shots and letters.)
-Dice (To determine who goes first)

Sit in a circle, around a table, generally. Put the alcohol in the middle (you will need quite a lot!) and a shot glass in front of all of the players. The moderator should be sitting close.)

Rules to drink by

To begin gameplay, each player will roll the dice. Whoever gets the highest total will be first. If there is a tie, the tied players keep rolling until the player going first has been determined.

All players sit in a circular formation, and the player who will be starting begins with the letter ‘A’. They say something along the lines of, “A, Apple.” The player to their right will say the same until it goes around the circle to the last player, the player to the left of the person who started. The last player will say something along the lines of, “A, Apple. B, Boy.” and it will go around until it gets to the person to THEIR left, who will say, “A, Apple. B, Boy. C, Couch.” and so on. YOU MUST SAY ALL OF THE WORDS THAT THE PLAYERS BEFORE YOU ASSIGNED TO THE LETTERS BEFORE ADDING YOUR LETTER ON! THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT DIFFICULT!

This is where it gets fun. If the next player were to mess up, hesitate for more than five seconds before beginning, or miss their turn, they would have to drink according to whichever letter they went out on. Drinks generally go as follows:

A – 1/2 shot
B – 1 shot
C – 1 1/2 shots
D – 2 shots
E – 2 1/2 shots
F – 3 shots
G – 3 1/2 shots
H – 4 shots
I – 4 1/2 shots
J – 5 shots
K – 5 1/2 shots
L – 6 shots
M – 6 1/2 shots
N – 7 shots
O – 7 1/2 shots
P – 8 shots
Q – 8 1/2 shots
R – 9 shots
S – 9 1/2 shots
T – 10 shots
U – 10 1/2 shots
V – 11 shots
W – 11 1/2 shots
X – 12 shots
Y – 12 1/2 shots
Z – 13 shots.

As you can imagine, in the earlier rounds, people are pretty much sober and don’t go out until the later letters. This ensures that pretty much everyone gets pretty drunk.

If a player makes it all the way through, A-Z, without messing up, they are the winner. There can be more than one winner, note, but this generally won’t happen in the later rounds. In the later rounds, a lot of times there ISN’T a winner at all! The winner, though, gets to take a celebratory shot, so they aren’t left out of the drinking action. This goes on until everyone is completely drunk!
