A quarter and a decent table to spin the quarter on…
Rules to drink by
There has been different variations of beer hockey on this site… each of which have similar rules…
This game is every person for themselves. If played correctly many people can get drunk really fast.
The set up:
Get the players to stand around the table you are using. Each player should have a single beer in front of them.
Note: the more people and the closer the cans are set up the better. The game is quicker and more challenging.
How to play:
One player spins the quarter and must call out another players name before the quarter stops spinning.
Note: You cannot call your own name.
Every other player starts out with their hands not near their beers or the spinning quarter.
Once a players name is called: everyone else, including the person who span the quarter, puts down their defense in front of their can by using either there left or right hand. You cannot use both hands.
The defense consists of your index and pinky finger extended, while the rest of your fingers are closed, basically punk rock horns. You lay your defense sideways on the table. You cannot bend your wrist or wrap your arm around your can. You also cannot move your defense once placed.
The player who got their name called shoots the quarter at anyone else’s beer, goal, before it stops spinning.
If a shoot is fired and the quarter keeps spinning the player can shoot again.
If the shoot misses, the person the shooter was intending to hit gets to spin the quarter and call out someones name. Keep repeating until some player’s can gets hit.
If the shoot makes a goal. A goal is when the quarter hits a players can. Then the player who made the goal re-spins the quarter. The person who got scored upon chugs the beer while the quarter is spinning. The rest of the players on the table can do anything to keep the quarter spinning. The longer the quarter spins, the longer the player drinks. Ultimately until they finish their drink. If their beer is finished then obviously they get a new beer.
If a goal is made, the person who got scored against starts the spinning process over.
Rules that get people really drunk.
General rules:
1. If you mess-up spinning the quarter, you take a drink of beer. Messing up by not calling someones name in time of the quarter falling off the table, or before it stops spinning. If you mess up three times in a row you chug the beer.
Note: Some people play two mess-ups then chug, or three mess-ups total per game. Adjust the rule to make the game more or less intense.
2. If you knock over your beer, or someone elses, you must finish what is left in it.
Note: Some people play where you have to zambonie the spilt beer of the table, meaning you suck the spilt beer off the table. Then you must finish the beer.
3. If your beer is on the table you are still in the game, people can go for you still. Pick up your beer.
Note: this only usually happens against the person that is the most drunk.
4. In case of an improper defense:
You can play that either their is a re-spin, penalty shot, or the player must down their beer. This depends on how intense you want to play the game.
Penalty shots: The player who caused the penalty cannot react at all. The other player re-spins the quarter and is able to shoot at the players beer that has the penalty, if a goal is made then standard goal rules apply.
The game is not that complicated once you understand how to play…
Cheers!
