Beirut (New Jersey Max violence).
Setup
standard 10 cups vs 10 cups. 2 rinse cups. 2 man teams, three pong balls total; either standard ping pong table 5×10? or 4×8 sheet of plywood.
(CO-ED only if both teams are 1M + 1F) (also 2F vs 2F is a beirut-catfight)
Rules to drink by
OFFENSE: leaning upon or against table, to throw is allowed, but table cannot move – rattling of cups either on a block / sheild by defence resulting in re-throw (to be called by thrower.)
any offensive causing shakes or tilting, results in stopppage of offensive play and loss of remaining balls /shots. called by defense, and must be seconded by specatator.
*All 3 balls in by one thrower is called a “TOUGH GUY”. offensive team gets balls back, no defensive action possible. balls return to offensive team able to throw again at will.
*any cup tipped by accident during physical conflict results in one cup penalty.
* play consists of one or two offensive players throwing balls as quick as they can throw accurately, this quick barrage of balls cannot commence until all drinking earned in previous exchange are emptied and placed down on table. —however, a volley is possible if first one or two throws by offense miss and are retreived by defenders, they can be returned immediately if they so choose by (going offensive) unless a throw ends up in a cup, volley stops until drink earned is consumed.
*cups not movable unless moved by a ball in play.
DEFENSE: hands flailing, rocking, and blocking vision by defence allowed. as long as no early contact with thrown ball occurs. results in 1 cup penalty.
Defence best interest is to catch all missed shots on first bounce, second bounce -ok- but charging offensive player now allowed in neutral zone to persue potential ball retreival. after multiple bounces- missing third catch can result in undefended cups “bouncing betty” can still go in a cup.
*any spinners can or cannot be blown-out by pre-determined ruling BEFORE start of game. However, if a blown-out ball goes in the wash-cup team must drink ball-wash cup and go without for rest of game. also if ball bounces off any beer cup – was catch-able by rules above, into wash cup, team must drink wash cup(dirt can be spit out)
*multiple throws allowed at offensive teams will to increase chances of multiple bounces getting in more full cups.
*emptys can be cleared by whipping ball hard at emptys to reduce chances of ball going in an empty cup, resulting in offensive sides having to drink a cup of their own.
***any player puking, leaving room to go to latrine, results in forfeit and loss of game immediatly and done for the night. any team mate deserted by a puker is allowed to return for later games with new partner.
*** boundaries of physical violence & defence extend outward to the walls of the room from either side the of the table. if the table is 8 feet long, this is the only area to get physical-“the zone” would be 8 feet long, and extend outward to the walls of the room. violence can only be contained beside table, the wrestling for ball cannot go behind any ball either endline of the table. SUMO Wrestling rules apply to the endline, usually masking tape marks endline. any lost balls off table, or not caught after first bounce by defence, AND between endlines, CAN BE ASSAULTED BY ONE OFFENSIVE player, if ball makes it all the way back to offensive endline, ball to be used again by offense. Defense can utilize any form of retreiving ball from floor as long as it does not shake table, draw blood, or allow unfair advantage of offense to throw balls undefended. (AWOL DEFENDER)
*the scraps usually are on third offensive throw and ball is in danger of leaving table or has left table within potential reach of offense. the balls thrown one at a time cannot be touched by defence until first contact with table or cups,
*balls behind defence are not up for grabs by offence and players cannot leave end of table unless ball has potential to go back toward offensive side, ball must have IN PLAY status( still be within length of table / in the “zone”). Defender cannot enter zone either unitl ball is post table-or cup-contact.
–to go after a ball thaat you thought you could get, and lose it, isn’t worth it if it costs you another cup to drink. to go after a ball, at the expense of another cup already earned, is devine.
