Hourglass Beruit
Setup
Large table
Large # of 9oz Cups
2 Cases of Beer(at least)
1 ball for each person on one side of the table (Minimum of 2 balls)
Setup:
Stack cups on the table until the two sides are close enough that you are able to finish with two triangles that meet in the center of the table.
Rules to drink by
1. There are 2 ways of determining who takes the first shot: Both sides shoot eye to eye until only one person sinks a cup -or- the defending team automatically gets first shot.
2. Successful Shot – If you successfully sink your shot into a full cup in your opponents rack they must drink the cup. Shooting may not resume until they finish the cup or replace it in the rack with an empty cup or rerack.
3. Air balls – If you overshoot the table and cups completely the shooter must drink a cup from their own rack.
4. Empty – If you sink the ball into an empty cup the shooter must drink a cup from their rack.
5. Tripod – If the ball lands in between 3 cups, treat the shot as if all three cups were hit simultaneously.
6. Bounce – If you bounce the ball into a cup it only counts as 1 cup.
7. Spills – If one of your cups are knocked over by an opponents shot or your own stupidity it must remain empty. If there is still a thumbs width of beer in the cup it counts as a full cup, otherwise it is an empty. Spills do not count as a successful shot unless the ball remains within the knocked over cup. Cups knocked over by people not associated with the game may be refilled.
8. Throw backs – If your team sinks all of its shots you get another turn.
9. Reracking – Optional, Usually Reracking is not done until there are only a few full cups left on a particular side, usually 21 or 28 cups. Rerack the cups into a triangle, at any point the number of cups equal the number of total cups in the back row of the triangle, toss the empties and rack into a smaller triangle.
10. Last Cup – When a team only has one cup they may place the cup anywhere along the back row of the table and air balls and empties do not apply to them, i.e. you cannot loose on an air ball or empty BUT you can loose if your cup is knocked over so make sure you support it!
11. Redemption Shot – If your last cup is hit, your team is allowed to shoot at the opponents rack until you miss x times where x is the number of shots it took your opponent to hit your last cup that round.
12. Overtime – If you hit your opponents last cup with one of your redemption shots the games goes into overtime, each team makes a rack of three cups filled to the brim with beer, air balls and empties do not count. However redemption, spill, and Tripod rules are still in effect. You may go into multiple rounds of overtime.
13. Defense – No player may interfere with a ball once it has been thrown until it hits a cup, the table or the floor. If the cup bounces off the table or the edge of a cup you are allowed to swat it away.
14. Blowing/Flicking – No player may blow or flick a ball that has not fully settled into a cup in order to force it out.
15. The winning team may force their opponents to drink the remaining beer in their cups.
