Rules to drink by
The players all sit in a circle. One starts counting and the counting goes on clockwise until number six is reached. Then the player that would say “Seven” says “Shtokletz” instead and the direction of counting is reversed (so the player who said “Six” says “Eight”). The word “Shtokletz” is uttered and order is reversed on every number that is a multiple of 7 or contains the digit 7. It gets tricky on double shtokletzes (such as 27 and 28) and it get especially tricky if you get to 70. If somebody utters a number when “Shtokletz” should be said, speaks when it’s not his turn, takes too long to react on their turn (2 seconds is usually agreed on) or otherwise makes a mistake must drink a shot. The counting is then reset and starts from the player who made the mistake.
If there are seven or more people a higher number should be chosen so that the number is always higher than the number of participants. It’s important that the word “Shtokletz” is used because it’s hard to pronounce when you’re tipsy. Another fun thing is that the more mistakes somebody makes the drunker he gets and because of it makes more mistakes, thus falling into a vicious circle.
